the India connection
had a call with a CEO building in India. the parallels to our exchange days are striking.
got connected with a founder building peer-to-peer electricity trading in India using blockchain.
and i'm immediately transported back to 2013. Same country. Same skepticism from authorities. Same "this is crazy, don't do this" from everyone you meet.
But the same need too. Billions of people underserved by traditional finance. A technological solution that works. A founder willing to take on the regulatory fight.
That's the play. That's always the play.
What's different now: there's precedent. We won a Supreme Court case. We proved it could work. So this founder has a clearer path, even though the obstacles are still real.
This is what i got excited about when i first read their pitch: someone building something that has to exist, not because it's trendy, but because it solves a real problem in a place where no one else can.
That's the thesis i bet on every time.
