the spark tank pattern

what happens when you put forty founders in one zoom and let them pitch.... twice a week.

we run a thing called spark tank.

forty to fifty founders show up. they pitch in five minute slots. capital allocators listen. some founders get follow ups. some do not.

it sounds simple. it is anything but.

the magic is not in any single pitch. the magic is in the room itself. you put fifty daring people on one zoom for ninety minutes and the temperature of the universe shifts a little. it is not measurable. it is not investable. but it is real.

most accelerators do this wrong. they batch the pitches behind closed doors. they make the feedback private. they treat the founder like a delicate flower who needs careful curation.

spark tank does the opposite. we make the room public to its members. we make the pitches sharp. we let the worst pitches die in front of everyone.... not to humiliate, but to teach.

because the founders watching the bad pitch are learning faster than the founder giving it. they are watching a real version of the mistake they almost made last week. they are running the simulation against their own deck in real time.

that is not cruel. that is the most generous gift you can give a builder. honest signal.

the eu edition this week had founders from france, lithuania, ireland, nigeria, the netherlands. one was building a fund of funds for ai. one was building a freelance marketplace. one was doing biomass. one was doing carbon-negative outdoor structures.

zero overlap. zero. and yet all of them got something they could not have gotten alone.

the pattern is this. when you create the room.... the room creates the alpha.

most people will not build the room because it does not have an immediate roi. they want the meeting that closes. they want the call that converts. they do not want the awkward open mic where strangers fail in public.

but the open mic is where the next sequoia investment is being modelled. the open mic is where the next ten thousand x return is hiding in plain sight.

you just have to be patient enough to be the host.
