the unocoin moment
why reliving that fight matters more now than it did then
had back-to-backs this week with people who were part of the india bitcoin story.
it's surreal to explain: we built the first real bitcoin exchange in india. fought the central bank to the supreme court. won. then the whole category got shut down anyway by regulatory pressure.
everyone asks: was it worth it?
and the answer isn't about the money or the company. it's about the moment. we proved something had to be proved: that you could build a technology company against the government and the government would have to listen.
we didn't win because we were right. we won because we forced them to explain why they were wrong in court.
that's a different kind of win. and it changed how a billion people look at their relationship with institutions.
the companies being built right now on top of that precedent don't even know the foundation was set by someone fighting in a courtroom.
your job might be to build on precedent someone else set. or it might be to set the precedent for what comes next.
which are you prepared for?
