Who are you to read the news, why should people listen to you?
I'm a founder who's built multiple companies over the past couple decades, starting with a nootropics brand, then moving into agencies including call centers, LinkedIn outreach, cold email and Facebook ads with over a thousand employees worldwide. I settled in Oaxaca after COVID and doubled down on cold email until I found real product market fit, which led me to start Ras Rocket with Sunny.
What's this mastermind you're running in Oaxaca?
We're hosting a mastermind in Oaxaca for founders with exits and serial founders. It runs either five days for five thousand dollars, using my neighbor's house plus mine as one compound, or ten days for ten thousand dollars at a mansion we rented in Huatulco on the coast. We already have a strong mix of VCs and serial founders signed up.
What do you make of Figure's humanoid robot progress compared to Boston Dynamics?
I'm impressed by Figure as a business, and Brett is a genius like Elon, but I haven't seen the robot in person yet so I can't really judge the product. Boston Dynamics has been around for twenty years, got bought by Google, and is still figuring out its identity, so I like Figure's underdog energy and how they've raised money.
Do you think government regulation is needed to keep AI in check?
I think citizens are the ones begging for regulation, not founders. As a capitalist I don't want more rules, but if AI ends up taking all the jobs that affects everyone since we all still buy food and services from real people. So I do think governments need to get involved to some degree, especially around agentic AI, even though that goes against my instincts.
What's your take on the SpaceX deal reportedly worth over a billion dollars a month in compute?
That's mind blowing. I saw numbers around a billion dollars a month, with some figures floating even higher, plus the idea that some of the compute capacity is coming from data centers in space with multiple gigawatts involved. It shows how good Elon is at making these deals, and I'd guess the margins on it are huge.
ChatGPT just crossed a billion monthly users. How does that compare to Claude?
ChatGPT crossing a billion monthly users makes it the fastest growing app ever, which is wild to think about running as a business. Claude's growth chart showed a huge percentage increase too, something like six hundred percent versus ChatGPT's sixty percent, even though Claude's absolute user count looked much smaller when we searched it up. The growth curves side by side are just insane.
What's your take on the new EU and US AI regulation news?
Europeans are great at writing policy but not so great at letting founders actually build things, and that's what their government needs to focus on instead of piling on more rules. In the US it's more about hiring lobbyists, like Sam Altman is doing, and I don't think this particular policy draft is going to change all that much in practice.
