A VC veteran explains why AI already broke every rule and what Left on Red really means for humanity.
Do you see this AI revolution as the ultimate visionary breakthrough, or are we about to cause a massive crash at the intersection?
I'd say both. There's a transitionary period with displaced workers, and there's a 100% probability that will happen. Coders, administrators, even lawyers will be affected because prompting AI correctly becomes a whole new skill set. Broad AI won't disrupt much yet, but specialized LLMs applied corporately will squeeze SG&A and displace workers within the next two years. I think productivity will grow enormously, especially in areas like big pharma, entering what I call the molecular era.
Can you explain for listeners what you mean by 'Left on Red'?
I'd consider myself unemployable, I don't play by corporate rules. I use the analogy of Risk, the attacker always needs more dice than the defender, so the defender has the advantage. I compare disruptive companies to Attila the Hun versus a defender digging in on a hill. Microsoft did this to Netscape and others, essentially forcing companies to bring their business plans to Microsoft. I break roles into commando, infantry, and police, and commandos, the disruptors, always lead.
Do you believe AI can turn left on red?
It already has. Left on red is the rule base our species, corporations, and governments operate under, and AI broke every single rule, not corporately but through the technology and development itself moving faster than anyone predicted. Coming out of DARPA, where a couple of guys came up with the concept of AI thirty years ago, these programs are decades ahead of what's commercially available. AI is one of the most disruptive left on red forces in the history of our species.
Do you think AI and robotics together could get rid of starvation, like Elon talks about, or is that opium?
It's opium. AI won't solve starvation, that's human nature. If we truly wanted to fix it, China, the US, and Russia would eliminate military budgets, collaborate, and fund the World Bank to end starvation everywhere. That's independent government collaboration, and it's not AI. The only thing that would truly unify our species is the admittance of intelligent extraterrestrial life, because then we'd finally look outward instead of staying fragmented by borders, religion, and currency.
Do robots use Bitcoin?
Why wouldn't they? You could put Bitcoin on a thumb drive and stick it into a robot to transfer funds. The robot might perform better, or reach out with a tin cup after doing your laundry and say give me some cash. I could definitely see that happening someday.

No, I never did social media because I don't need to prospect people, I already know who I need to know. They put me on LinkedIn, so people can hit me up there and we'll share contacts.
