In this episode of the Sunny Ray Show, host Sunny Ray sits down with Charles Cormier, a serial entrepreneur and longtime friend and business partner, to unpack how cold email can compress the path to product-market fit. Charles traces his path from a failed cold-calling job selling LED lights in Canada, to building a Facebook ads agency for realtors that hit 30K MRR at age 22, to running LinkedIn outreach and cold call operations with over 2,000 employees. He explains how testing roughly a hundred offers a month across his client roster gave him a real time compass for spotting winning products and founders. The conversation moves into his current venture, GTM Ventures and Razrocket, and his belief that agentic AI systems will soon run cold email campaigns autonomously, optimizing in real time far faster than humans. Charles also shares why he pushes himself through brutal ultra endurance events like the Spartan Hurricane Heat, describing them as mental training for the pain every entrepreneur eventually faces. The episode closes with his early miss on Bitcoin in 2014 and where listeners can find him online.
A cold email veteran explains how testing offers at scale reveals product-market fit fast, and why agentic AI is next.
Who are you and what's your story from a high level?
I'm a serial entrepreneur. My first job was cold calling engineers and architects in Canada to sell LED lights, and I made one sale in two months after ten thousand calls. That led to becoming a chief marketing officer, then launching my own Facebook ads agency for realtors, which hit 30K MRR when I was 22. I later moved into B2B, discovered cold email, and eventually built GTM Ventures and Razrocket.
What do you love about Bitcoin, or what do you have in common with it?
It's beautiful, elegant, technical, and hard to tamper with. But I love micro strategies and DeFi companies even more because they give regular people a common vehicle to invest, since most people don't actually know how to buy bitcoin. I'm about freedom, money, and technology, so on Twitter I said I'm 90 percent Bitcoin and 10 percent crypto.
Can you talk about what you do and your background, your superpower?
I discovered cold email after LinkedIn outreach and Facebook ads stopped scaling for B2C work. With cold email you can send two to three thousand emails versus only ten to twenty LinkedIn connections a day, which fills your calendar fast. Over seven years running an agency and now a roster of clients, I've tested about a hundred offers a month, which gave me a real product market fit expertise beyond just technical delivery.
What do you actually know about product market fit, and what are founders missing?
Even billion dollar founders can be lucky and look successful on the surface, but twelve months later some become distressed asset sales. The real pattern is people with a system, like Elon or Paul Graham. My system is cold email, targeting one customer persona with one offer at a time, which gives direct feedback in days on whether people actually want what you're selling.
You've run call centers, LinkedIn outreach, Facebook ads, even a nootropics company. Now you're talking about agentic systems running everything. What's that vision?
My guiding formula is making exponential money with the lowest energy investment. Agents are the definition of energy efficiency, they run on GPUs and electricity and improve over time without needing management like the two thousand employees I've handled. In sales, an agent would deploy campaigns, build contacts and mailboxes, evaluate reply and open rates in real time, then hatch better campaigns automatically, faster than any human could.
Why do you subject yourself to these brutal multi day endurance races?
It builds grit for the pain we all eventually face in business or personal life, whether it's a lawsuit, a loved one's illness, or something else. High performers plateau, and these long painful events, listening to Goggins while doing them, rewire the mind so when something hard hits later, you already know you've been through worse and can stay calm and perform better.
Where can people learn more about you?
You can find me at charlescormier.com, and check out what I'm building at razrocket.com through GTM Ventures.
