What we talked about.

In this episode of the Sunny Ray Show, host Sunny Ray talks with Johan, a Melbourne based B2B sales coach and founder of Blueprint Coaching, about how AI is reshaping business to business sales. Johan shares how he started selling at 15, spent 15 years in the logistics and supply chain industry, and eventually left corporate life to help sales teams grow revenue. He explains how ChatGPT transformed his lead generation, copywriting, calendar analysis, and profit tracking, and why he believes salespeople who ignore AI will fall behind. The conversation covers why he chose B2B over B2C, the old school culture of the logistics industry, and his belief that communication, not scripts, is the real key to closing deals. Johan also addresses fears that AI will replace salespeople, arguing that human problem solving and communication skills will remain essential even as AI takes over repetitive tasks. He closes with book recommendations, his favorite AI resources, and a simple closing tip for sales reps.

A Melbourne sales coach explains how ChatGPT and AI are quietly transforming B2B sales without replacing the human touch.

The questions, and the answers.

Tell us about your background before AI, born and raised in Australia?

I've been selling since I was 15, and I'm 41 now. I didn't grow up with money, so I was fascinated by salespeople and their success. I started in supply chain around 23, one of the youngest B2B reps in the industry at the time. I wasn't passionate about sales at first, just naturally good at it, but over the years I fell in love with it and treat it like a sport.

When did AI come into your world, and how long have you been using it?

It really evolved through ChatGPT. I started playing around with it and realized it would save me huge amounts of time, like finding 30 furniture importers in Melbourne in 10 seconds instead of a full day of Google research. That epiphany moment made me realize I had to start using it seriously, even though I had no real purpose going in, it was completely accidental.

How are you using AI in your day to day sales workflow?

I use it for lead generation with tools like Lusha that have AI targeting built in. I also use ChatGPT for copywriting since that's not my strength, and for working out profit margins and revenue since salespeople aren't always great with numbers. My favorite use is analyzing my calendar, feeding it the business I've won so it shows which days and clients I perform best with.

Why did you gravitate toward B2B rather than B2C?

I've done both, my first sales job was selling mobile phones, which was B2C. I fell into B2B fairly accidentally through a corporate job in supply chain and logistics. I gravitated toward it because there's always a need between businesses, and the economy in Australia was booming in logistics at the time, so I saw real opportunity to make money there.

Tell us about your company and how that journey has gone.

I spent 15 years in logistics before starting Blueprint Coaching. I noticed the industry was old school with barely any sales trainers in Australia, and almost no one talking about AI. When I introduced basic tools like ChatGPT for emails, people's minds were blown. I made more in my first year coaching than I did working for someone else, built on 15 years of networking and industry relationships.

Do you worry AI will replace salespeople?

I have two frames of mind. If AI completely takes over, it is what it is, there's not much we can do. But I think sales roles will become more limited rather than obsolete, with lead generation changing a lot. The human element, solving problems and communicating, will still matter. No industry is ever fully safe, so you need to evolve and use AI to get ahead of the pack.

What's your favorite sales book or AI resource?

YouTube is honestly my go to, you type in AI and there's endless information, or I search AI plus whatever problem I'm solving. I never really read sales books, most of my experience came from watching people in front of me. I have read books like The Art of Communication and I'm currently reading The Seven Frequencies of Communication, since I'm obsessed with communication over process in sales.

Any tips on closing before we wrap up?

Just ask for the business.
