In this episode, Sunny Ray hosts Charles Corman, CEO of GTM Ventures, who breaks down the system behind his agency's cold email and podcast outreach engine. Corman, a fifteen year sales veteran who has managed a thousand salespeople and built several past agencies, explains why traditional cold email stopped converting around 2022 once inboxes flagged it as spam. His fix was pairing cold outreach with podcast invitations, since almost no one marks a request to be interviewed as spam. He walks through the technical infrastructure, from warmed up mailboxes and domain aliases to lead sourcing and validation, then details how a fifteen minute pre-interview call doubles as a qualification filter before guests are promoted to a full podcast recording and later a sales follow-up. Partner Emiliano, founder of Rahis, joins to share results from applying the same playbook to fundraising and sales, including term sheet conversations with Nasdaq listed companies. The episode closes with audience questions on post-podcast follow-up and building an initial guest list from existing LinkedIn contacts.
GTM Ventures founder Charles Corman reveals how pairing cold email with podcast invites turns cold outreach into 10 to 15 daily sales meetings.
What is GTM Ventures and what problem does it solve?
We run GTM Ventures to bring an unholy amount of leads to B2B AI companies. I've been in sales fifteen years and managed a thousand salespeople. Around 2022 cold email alone stopped working because everything went to spam, so I combined cold email with podcast invitations, and suddenly emails stopped landing in spam while people said yes.
How does combining cold email with podcast invites avoid spam and get replies?
No one flags a cold email inviting them onto a podcast as spam. Everyone wants to be listened to, and when you give something before asking, people respond. That approach gets me acceptance to what feels like a hundred million dollar offer, a podcast invite, and it produces an unholy amount of leads compared to LinkedIn, calls, ads, or SEO.
What does the technical infrastructure behind these campaigns look like?
Everything starts with mailboxes. We warm up a large number of them using our own tool built on cPanel and SendGrid's SMTP API, creating aliases across many domains. For clients we typically buy five domains and create twenty mailboxes each, a hundred total, all warming together so if one gets flagged another takes over. We never burn mailboxes like competitors using Outlook or Google.
How do you qualify leads while inviting them to the podcast?
We ask pointed qualifying questions on a fifteen minute pre-interview call, like their current MRR and their expected MRR, which tells me if they are growth minded. We also ask ICP specific questions depending on the offer. Bad questions yield bad answers, so the quality of your questions determines your bank account. We are qualifying for the podcast and for business at the same time.
What happens after someone books the pre-interview call?
If they qualify, I stretch the fifteen minute pre-interview into a thirty minute podcast recording. During the interview I keep qualifying them, and five minutes before we finish I pitch a follow-up call about scaling their leads. Because they already trust me from the conversation, the acceptance rate into that follow-up call is very high, and my close rate on those calls runs ten to twenty percent.
What results have you and your partners seen from this system?
I get ten to fifteen meetings a day, with ten to twenty percent converting into leads, which in one example equaled twelve clients a month and about thirty seven thousand dollars in monthly recurring revenue added. Emiliano's company generated sixty million dollars in term sheets and conversations with Nasdaq listed companies using the same engine, on top of new podcast guest relationships.
For someone launching their first podcast, how do you find those initial guests?
For a first podcast, export your existing LinkedIn network and outreach lists, the people you are already in touch with, and invite them first. Landing that first guest is the trickiest part because it helps convince future guests to join. Once you have a few episodes, asking founders or CEOs you already know becomes a great ongoing funnel for guests.
Why do you now prefer podcast generated leads over SEO, ads, or referrals?
Podcast leads are pre qualified so early that by the follow-up call we are already warmed up and they already understand my service. With SEO or ads, people may have skimmed a page and compared me to competitors impulsively. This system gives me optionality, I can choose who to work with, and full control, since I can slow down or ask tighter qualifying questions to raise lead quality without losing revenue.
