the inbox isn't killing cold email, it's killing the pitch nobody asked for

bitcoin etf money came back the moment it had a reason, and your prospects work the same way.

did you see the bitcoin etf numbers this weekend....

about $2.4 billion went in last week. the biggest week since october of last year. in mid july those same funds were sitting near $5.8 billion in the red for 2026, and half my feed had already written the obituary.

now the year is green.

i keep thinking about that because of a call i had today with an agency owner who has been in the game for twenty five years. sharp operator. runs the whole lead pipeline on ai tools and intent data. and halfway through came the line i hear every week now.... the inbox providers are killing cold email.

right about the symptom. wrong about the patient.

what's dying is the pitch nobody asked for. the email that opens with a calendar link and a paragraph about you. the inbox learned to smell it, and so did the human reading it

everyone thinks the channel is the problem. the channel is a pipe. what you push through it decides whether the water comes out clean or brown.

here's what i've watched work. you don't ask for a meeting. you offer a seat. an invitation to come on a live show and tell their story, the road in, the turn, what they're building now. no pitch in the first email. none in the second.

the person on the other side goes from target to guest. and guests reply.

a business that has compounded for a quarter century doesn't need this today, and we both said so. fair. but the interest was there when i described it, because this is someone who spent a whole carreer on the earned side of media and knows earned beats paid every time it gets a fair shot.

that's the same lesson the etf money taught this summer. the capital that walked out in july didn't stop believing in the asset. it was waiting for a reason. when the reason showed up, $999 million came back in a single monday.

your prospects are the same. they didn't stop reading email. they stopped reading email that takes from them.

so what does this mean long term....

the founders who keep blasting will keep blaming the inbox. the ones who give first will own the attention everyone else says is gone. i put together how we pair cold email with a warm invite if you want to see the motion end to end.

one question before you send your next sequence....

would you reply to it if it landed in your inbox tonight?
