the pre-interview that never happened

this week the cameras went live on my show with a guest i had never actually spoken to. we had missed each other at the pre-interview, twice, and he rebooked straight into the full taping. process failure, live stakes.

so i treated the first two minutes as the pre-interview we never had. confirmed what his product actually was, found the angle, and kept going. the episode ended up producing one of the sharpest lines i have heard in months: the real disruption is not ai-generated content, it is ai-generated execution.

a cold start can still work if you build in a soft landing at the top. but the lesson is about process, not improvisation. the miss almost became a live embarrassment, and the fix costs fifteen minutes.

where in your funnel are you improvising something a checklist would catch?
