when your ecosystem has a bad day

a crisis nearby is a positioning moment, not a hiding moment.

a serious security event hit a well known hardware wallet this week. i have known the founder since 2013, and the room i was in when the news landed called it surreal.

my read, said out loud on that call: this is not a failure of bitcoin. it is a failure of one company, essentially a two man operation. those are different sentences, and conflating them is how narratives get away from you.

the strategic layer underneath: institutions and family offices will now want a human in the loop more than ever, and the multisig, multivendor argument just got validated by reality. a crisis in your ecosystem is also a positioning moment. the right response is not distance, it is being the clearest voice in the room about what actually happened.

when your industry has its next bad day, will you have the sentence ready?
