the machine scaled and you didnt

claude now leads a quarter of the work that builds the next claude, and the thing that breaks in your business is your own calendar.

claude now leads twenty six percent of the work that builds the next claude. in february that number sat under one percent.

the industry passed it around all week as a story about machines, and everyone read past the part where it's a story about the humans standing next to them.

i sat with a founder this morning who told me ai had taken the toil out of his week. the grinding parts went away, and what stayed standing was the part he likes.... talking to people, connecting them, building something together.

then he turned it around and asked what my constraint was.

sixty five people replied to us in a single day this week, founders and ceos and investors who write series a cheques, every one of them asking a real question with their own name attached.

my honest answer: i'm booked solid for two weeks. so is my partner.

that's the whole shape of it. sending scaled, meetings scaled, and follow up stayed where it sat, because follow up is still a human typing.

everyone keeps asking whether ai will replace the work. wrong question.

ai ate the tedious half of the job. what it left standing is the half that was always scarce, which is attention from a person who gives a damn.

so your bottleneck moved and nobody sent a memo. reach was the hard part for twenty years. now you can call on everyone and you can't hold any of them.

i watched it happen inside one day. sixty or seventy meetings booked off one engine. that feels like winning right up until the calendar snaps.

a model leading a quarter of its own research is impressive. a model leading a quarter of your pipeline, then handing you a hundred warm humans you can't call back, is a different animal.

nobody wins the next two years on model choice. we all rent the same models. it comes down to what you do with a hundred warm humans on a tuesday.

and you can't buy your way past that. you hire, you train, you teach someone to carry your calendar and speak the way you speak.... slow, human, unglamorous work.

which is why most people skip it and buy another tool.

the machine gets faster whether you sort this out or don't.

so what snaps first in your business when leads stop being the hard part?
