Every quotation in this book is something I said out loud on a call between January 13 and October 14, 2026. I record and transcribe my calls, and the transcript keeps my microphone on its own channel. The quotes come only from that channel, so a guest's words never end up in my mouth.
From about 2,150 recorded calls, an AI pipeline I run pulled the turns where I was explaining, pitching, teaching or deciding something about giving, the show, outreach, selling or follow-up. A second model read each one and kept it only if it stood on its own as something I meant; anything that was really a guest talking, or just scheduling and small talk, didn't make it. What survived was 2,592 passages from 986 calls. Each one was checked word for word against the raw transcript of its own call before it went into the pool.
Each chapter got the same check. Every line in quotation marks is an exact span of one of those passages, and a script confirms it. Where a quote skips words, three dots mark the cut. Where the transcription misheard a word, the correction sits in square brackets. Everything else is left as it was captured, false starts and all, because that's how I talk.
The narration around the quotes was drafted from the same material. Where a sentence connects two things I said, or describes a scene the transcript only implies, it's marked as drafting in the working notes, so I can check each one before print.
The people on the other side of these calls are founders, investors, guests and my own team. You won't find their names here. Customers and prospects appear by role, and the names in the transcripts were masked before anyone wrote a word.
